South Limestone Reconstruction

ATS Construction performed was a 12.8 million dollar project that encompassed a complete rebuilding of the infrastructure on one of the busiest streets in downtown Lexington.  ATS was required to keep this road open to traffic for the majority of construction as well as access to all of the businesses located along this corridor. The entire storm system and sanitary system was demolished and replaced as well as the curbs, sidewalks, entrances and asphalt pavement. Brick pavers were added to enhance the aesthetics of this historic street.  This project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget in spite of the difficult challenges presented by the unknown location of existing utilities, the presence of an abandoned trolley track underneath the roadbed, the limited access for construction equipment and the high volume of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
